Members and Friends, you are cordially invited to join us for our September event at Henley on Grace (aka HOG).   Owner William Wright is excited to have us back to his unique, wine-oriented restaurant where you can find over a hundred wines available by the glass!  Where else would you find this in Richmond?!  We thoroughly enjoyed our previous event at HOG a couple of years ago and are definitely looking forward to this one.  We hope you will join us!

(Note: Wine Pairings on not available at this time)

“Old World 4-Course Dinner”

First Course:

Grilled Caesar Salad. This salad was invented in the early 1920’s by Caesar Cardini, an Italian chef who owned a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico.
Grilled Romaine Lettuce – Served with a Brioche “collar”/Garlic Caesar Dressing/Black Pepper/Black and White Anchovy/grated Parmesan Cheese

Second Course:

2024 Lobster Thermidor – The recipe of Lobster Thermidor was possibly created at Café de Paris by Leopold Mourier, a former assistant to Auguste Escoffier, or possibly it was created in 1894 at Chez Marie.
Lobster Meat/Crabmeat/Bay Scallops/Shrimp/Nutmeg/Sherry/Cream/Mixed Mushrooms/ topped with Truffle Bread Crumbs/Cheese and broiled

Third Course:

Steak Diane – Medium rare ONLY. Considered a signature entrée at Manhattan’s beloved Drake Hotel, Steak Diane is widely attributed to Beniamino Schiavon, the Drake’s maître d’hôtel from 1942 to 1967.
Center Cut Beef Tenderloin/Cognac/Dijon Mustard/Veal Demiglace/Exotic Mushrooms/Chefs Vegetables

Fourth Course:

Classic Baked Alaska – One theory attributes the dessert as it is known today to Antoine Alciatore, the chef de cuisine of the famed Antoine’s Restaurant in New Orleans.
Ice Cream/Chocolate covered Pound Cake/Meringue/Grand Marnier Liquor/Seasonal Fruit/ Flambéed (served quickly)

Venue Notes:  Parking is available a block down the street at the 2nd & Grace Parking Garage for an approximate cost of $4.50 (depending on how long you’re there).  Carpooling is encouraged!

The restaurant will be closed to the public during our event, but wine is available for purchase by the glass at their bar if you come early or stay after the event.
